Christian Horner’s Emotional Farewell from Red Bull Racing
In a poignant farewell, Christian Horner expressed his surprise and sorrow at being dismissed from his role as Red Bull Racing’s team principal, a position he held for two decades. On October 25, 2025, the 51-year-old received the news of his termination, which he described as a "shock." The following day, he addressed his colleagues at the team’s headquarters in Milton Keynes, UK, where he became visibly emotional, prompting lengthy applause from staff.
Horner shared with his team, "Yesterday, I learned that I would no longer be involved in the operational aspects of the business moving forward. While I will remain with Red Bull, the day-to-day responsibilities will shift to others." Reflecting on his two decades with the organization, he expressed deep gratitude to his team for their unwavering support and commitment.
The footage of his heartfelt address, obtained by Sky Sports News, featured moments where he struggled to hold back tears while delivering his message to the team that he had helped transform into a dominant force in Formula 1. "When I joined 20 years ago, I had no idea what to expect, yet I felt immediately welcomed. Together, we built a powerhouse in motorsport, and it has been an absolute privilege to be part of this team," he remarked.
In a leadership change, Laurent Mekies has been promoted to CEO of Red Bull Racing, stepping up from the Racing Bulls team, while Alan Permane will take over his previous duties.
As the F1 season enters a brief hiatus, it will resume with the Belgian Grand Prix from July 25-27, featuring the much-anticipated Sprint format, broadcast live on Sky Sports F1.
