Ronnie O’Sullivan Shatters Records with Stunning Double 147 at Saudi Arabia Masters Semi-Final

The player had not secured a competitive 147 break since the 2018 English Open, but he made a striking comeback.

Remarkably, he became only the second player in history to achieve two 147 breaks in a single match, following Welshman Jackson Page’s stunning performance during the World qualifiers last April.

With a remarkable total of 17 maximum breaks, he surpasses John Higgins, a fellow member of the legendary ‘Class of 92’, by four breaks.

The English star was in exceptional form throughout the evening, also producing impressive breaks of 142 and 70 to take a 3-1 lead at the mid-session interval.

While his opponent, Wakelin, managed a 125 break to level the match at 3-3, the Englishman soon followed up his second 147 with breaks of 67 and 134, concluding a commanding performance.

He is set to claim a two-thirds share of a £50,000 bonus for the 147s, joining forces with Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, who recently recorded the season’s third maximum break.

Earlier in the day, in a clash dubbed snooker’s ‘fourth major’, Robertson secured a 6-3 victory over Elliot Slessor, moving one step closer to the final.

Though neither competitor was at their peak, the revitalized Australian maintained control, showcasing runs of 93 and 50 as he approached his 39th career ranking final.

“The start was pivotal today; I noticed Elliot was a bit anxious, and I leveraged my experience,” remarked Robertson, the 2010 Crucible champion.

“Reaching the final is significant for ranking points, ensuring my participation in major events later this season, which simplifies my scheduling immensely. I took that for granted a few years ago, always being in the top four. The competition is fierce now, and I’ve learned the importance of consistent effort and hard work to achieve such results.”
