In the 2025 US Open, Novak Djokovic expressed his determination to “crack the code” and rediscover his peak performance after coming back from a set down to defeat American qualifier Zachary Svajda in the second round.
The 24-time Grand Slam titleholder started the match on a low note but surged ahead to secure a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Djokovic admitted, “I’m not satisfied with my tennis level right now. Sometimes you have these off days, but you need to find a way to win.”
The 38-year-old champion shared his feelings of frustration as he aims for a historic 25th Grand Slam title.
“Competing brings me joy, but not performing at my best definitely doesn’t,” he stated. “This drives me and my team to elevate our game for the next match.”
He explained, “This isn’t about motivation; it’s more about my internal struggles. The details of my thoughts are personal.”
Djokovic has etched his name in the record books again by reaching the third round at a major for the 75th time, surpassing Roger Federer’s record.
In the upcoming round, he is set to face Britain’s Cameron Norrie, a rival he has bested at both the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year.
