According to reports from Sky Germany, Arsenal has officially reached out to RB Leipzig regarding a potential transfer for striker Benjamin Sesko. Sources indicate that the Gunners are currently examining the feasibility of a deal for the talented forward.
Arsenal is also conducting thorough research on several strikers, including the likes of **Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres**. However, no official offers have been submitted at this time.
Arsenal’s interest in Sesko isn’t new; the club has been keen on the player for an extended period. In January, it was reported by *Sky Sports News* that Arsenal was contemplating a move, but the player’s agent refrained from pursuing it due to a gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig, ensuring he would remain until at least the summer of 2025.
Arsenal had previously sought Sesko last summer, only for the striker to sign a contract extension with Leipzig that lasts until 2029. However, following Leipzig’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, the club may now be open to a transfer.
Last season, Sesko showcased his talent, netting 21 goals and providing six assists in various competitions, including four in the Champions League.
‘Sesko is poised for greatness’
Insight from Sky Sports’ Adam Bate:
While Slovenia has produced exceptional footballers like Samir Handanovic and Jan Oblak, they were both goalkeepers. As Matej Orazem states, “It’s a different caliber to have a striker.” Benjamin Sesko fits that description perfectly, as the 21-year-old has been turning heads across Europe since his teenage years. “I genuinely believe he is destined for greatness,” adds Orazem.
Orazem, the sporting director at NK Domzale, the Slovenian club that welcomed Sesko into their academy as a 15-year-old, recalls: “We quickly recognized his potential. Once the media took notice, we already had agreements in place. Anyone who witnessed him play could see he was something special.”
Physically, Sesko is a standout prospect at 6’5″, and he possessed impressive height even in his early years. Stories circulated about his ability to kick basketballs through hoops. With an incredible top speed clocked at 35.47 kilometers per hour, he ranks among the fastest players in the Bundesliga—a quintessential athlete.
“His physical attributes were extraordinary. While some young talents may need time to adjust to playing against older competitors, there was never any doubt with Benjamin thanks to his imposing presence,” Orazem states.
Sesko’s unique skill set combines lightning speed with the strength of a target man, making him an attractive option for top clubs and explaining the ongoing links with Arsenal.
