Excessive Buying and Underuse Result in Overabundance.

 Did you know that the Princess of Wales chose to wear a rented dress for a gala in 2022? The event aimed at addressing urgent environmental issues encouraged participants to think about sustainable fashion, but she’s not the only one.

Cate Blanchett decided to re-wear her outfits exclusively at a film festival in 2020.

In 2019, Jane Fonda committed to not purchasing any more clothing.

On average, a piece of clothing is worn

approximately seven times. Americans tend to acquire at least one new garment weekly (yes, weekly!). Many of us discover items we’ve held onto for years, tags still attached, or clothes worn only a couple of times. A majority possess about $7000 worth of unused items. While I couldn’t verify this specific figure, it seems plausible when you examine your surroundings.

Jane Fonda’s commitment resonates with me, even though, like the Princess and Cate, they likely possess a greater quantity and higher-value wardrobe than I do. However, when I genuinely assess the contents of my closets and drawers, I have to admit, I do not require more.
