Claudio Echeverri’s Unexpected Absence: Inside Man City’s Training in Manchester with Injury Update

Manchester City’s medical team is currently evaluating Claudio Echeverri, sources reveal, following an ankle injury he sustained during a match against Al Ain. The injury has unfortunately left him using crutches and wearing a protective boot.

In a positive turn earlier, Echeverri netted his first goal for the club during a dominant 6-0 victory over Al Ain in Atlanta this past Sunday, marking an impressive full debut.

The 19-year-old had to exit the match at halftime due to his ankle injury while competing at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Consequently, he missed training sessions this week with Pep Guardiola’s squad at their Club World Cup training base in Boca Raton, Florida.

Sadly, Echeverri will be sidelined for City’s crucial Group G showdown against Juventus in Orlando, as he continues to rely on crutches and the protective boot on his right foot.

This injury is particularly disappointing for Echeverri, who had eagerly anticipated his moment at City. After being officially signed from River Plate in January 2024, he remained on loan in Argentina until early 2025.

He was granted the opportunity to participate for Argentina in the Under-20 South American Championship before finally joining City in February. His first appearance came during the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace in May, which unfortunately ended in defeat.

Although he marked his first start with a stunning free kick against Al Ain, it now appears that the talented young player faces a significant period on the sidelines due to this setback.
