Rory McIlroy to Skip Memorial Tournament in Ohio
After recently winning the Masters, Rory McIlroy has announced he will not participate in the upcoming Memorial Tournament in Ohio, marking the first time he has missed this event since 2017. Scheduled to take place from May 29 to June 1, 2025, at the prestigious Muirfield Village, the tournament will once again be hosted by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.
This competition, the seventh of eight signature events on the PGA Tour, sees world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returning to defend his title.
Following a challenging outing at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow—where McIlroy finished tied for 47th—he is looking to regroup. His performance there was somewhat disappointing, particularly after the emotional highs of clinching his first major title since 2014 at The Masters, completing his career Grand Slam.
Currently ranked No. 2 globally, McIlroy also participated in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, finishing tied for 12th, and came in seventh at the Truist Championship, showcasing his ongoing pursuit of excellence in the sport.
