This weekend at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, fans have a chance to channel their inner Scottie Scheffler.
As part of the festivities, Netflix is showcasing “Scottie’s Chicken Shack,” paying homage to the four-time major champ’s appearance in “Happy Gilmore 2.”
Debuting on Netflix on July 25, the film features a humorous cameo from Scheffler, where he hilariously punches a competitor, leading to a playful mock arrest that references a real incident involving him outside Valhalla Golf Club during the 2024 PGA Championship.
The comedy continues when an officer in the holding cell quips, “It’s been three days—are you sure you don’t want to make that call?” To which Scheffler playfully retorts, “Depends. What’s for dinner?” After learning it’s chicken fingers, he responds, “I’ll stick around another night,” becoming a viral sensation.
The chicken shack at TPC Southwind features a fun photo backdrop from the film that allows fans to “do their time.” The menu boasts delectable options like classic chicken fingers, Memphis honey gold chicken fingers, and zesty lemon pepper wet fingers.
Scheffler described the experience as “a lot of fun,” praising Adam Sandler and his crew for creating a comfortable atmosphere for the golfers. “I told them after filming that they did a fantastic job; I think the movie will be a hit,” he remarked on Wednesday. “Everyone on set was amazing. They worked hard yet made it enjoyable.”
Besides Scheffler, several golf legends made appearances in the film, including Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka.
Though not one to embrace the spotlight, Scheffler shared that his family and friends adored the film, while he found it surreal to see himself on the big screen. “It was a strange feeling watching myself—something I’m not used to,” he said. “But we truly had a blast filming. The audience response seems to be overwhelmingly positive.”
Coming off his recent victory at the Open Championship last month, Scheffler reflected on the unique experience of stepping into the film world while maintaining his focus on the game.
