Thrills in Budapest: Luke Littler Obliterates Joe Cullen as Van Gerwen and Humphries Gear Up for Round Three at the Hungarian Darts Trophy

In a spectacular display at the 2025 Hungarian Darts Trophy, Luke Littler triumphed over Joe Cullen 6-1, while defending champion Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, and world No. 1 Luke Humphries all secured their spots in the third round held in Budapest. Littler, the reigning world champion, dazzled the audience with five 180s and an impressive double hit rate of 75%. He averaged 94.5 for the match, concluding it with a remarkable 12-darter.

The 18-year-old, who recently celebrated passing his driving theory test, showcased his skills against the 2022 champion Cullen, making his way to the last 16. Meanwhile, Van Gerwen started his title defense with a solid 6-2 victory against Matthew Dennant, despite missing 20 darts at doubles. The Dutchman, fresh off ending a two-year title drought in Amsterdam, is set to face Danny Noppert in an all-Dutch showdown this Sunday.

Price, the 2021 champion, executed a stunning 145 finish to defeat Richard Veenstra 6-2. He is now gearing up to compete against the legendary Raymond van Barneveld, who overcame 2023 champion Dave Chisnall with an impressive performance, averaging just under 108. World No. 1 Humphries fought hard to overcome Nathan Aspinall, finishing 6-4 despite Aspinall averaging 99.
