Tragic Incident at Dillon Falls: Search Underway for Missing Individuals
BEND, Oregon (KOIN) — A tragic incident occurred over the weekend when six individuals were swept over Dillon Falls along the Deschutes River, just outside of Bend. As of Sunday, one person has sadly been confirmed deceased, while two others remain unaccounted for.
The group fell into the turbulent waters around 3 p.m. on Saturday, prompting an immediate response from local authorities. Teams from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue, and Bend Fire & Rescue, along with drones from Bend police and aerial support from Airlink, have been actively involved in the search efforts.
Three members of the group were rescued and transported by ambulance to St. Charles-Bend Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the whereabouts of the remaining two individuals remain unknown.
Dillon Falls, known for its dramatic drop and treacherous rapids, is located within the picturesque Deschutes National Forest, characterized by its rugged lava rock formations.
