Tragic Collision in Covington County Claims Two Lives

On the evening of Friday, June 2, 2025, a devastating two-vehicle accident occurred in Covington County, Alabama, resulting in the loss of two lives.

The incident took place around 5:45 p.m. on County Road 70, close to Mary Williamson Road, approximately five miles northeast of Andalusia city limits.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the victims were identified as 37-year-old Travis B. Duke from Andalusia and 20-year-old Christy D. Shaw from Headland. The two vehicles collided head-on, leading to catastrophic outcomes; Duke’s car overturned while Shaw’s vehicle veered into a ditch.

Tragically, neither Duke nor Shaw were wearing seatbelts during the crash, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, an 18-year-old passenger in Shaw’s Kia sustained injuries and was promptly transported to a hospital for medical care.

As the investigation continues, ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division has not released further details.
