A follower on Facebook posed this question: “If you could share Boni, what actions do YOU take when encountering an illness, whether it’s a mild cold, a condition that needs surgical intervention, or a health issue that takes time to resolve?”
“I’m struggling with dental problems stemming from a routine filling, but it’s dragged on for months, causing significant physical discomfort. Moreover, the emotional toll is quite stressful. I’ve read that the problematic tooth is connected to maternal issues in metaphysical terms.”
“I keep telling myself throughout the day that my tooth is fine, my body possesses the ability to heal, and improvements are happening daily — yet, it doesn’t seem to be working.”

Whether dealing with a simple cold or confronting a critical health condition, the journey to healing can be challenging.
Why is this so? Since you’re experiencing it firsthand, your body feels incredibly real. Additionally, when your health is compromised, your performance dips. Plus, our society often elevates medical professionals, especially in many parts of the world.
These aspects can make it difficult to carve out the mental and emotional clarity necessary for healing during times of sickness or injury. Therefore, I encourage you to focus on this now. Don’t put it off until you’re unwell. Today presents a wonderful opportunity to shift your perspective about your body and your health journey.
In fact, the initial steps toward healing should ideally be taken before illness or injury occurs:
1. Explore your options
When my son received a diagnosis for a severe eye condition as a child, I naturally consulted an allopathic (American Medical Association) physician. Unfortunately, they had no solutions. They couldn’t determine the cause or treatment for this specific condition. Their approach was limited to symptom management.
This lack of effective guidance drove me to delve into alternative medicine. I studied it so passionately that I eventually began teaching introductory courses at a local adult education center.
I believe there are various healing approaches, and if you visualize them on a spectrum, one end would feature surgical interventions and pharmaceuticals, while the other represents spontaneous healing.
Between these extremes lie several modalities, such as (not an exhaustive list):
a. Internal support: i.e. Herbal remedies/diet
b. External support: i.e. Acupuncture/chiropractic practices
c. Internal energetic support using physical substances: i.e. Classical homeopathy/Flower essences
d. Internal energetic support without physical substances: i.e. Energy medicine administered internally
e. External energetic support with no physical substances: i.e. Reiki/hands-on healing/radionics
I encourage you to research the modalities that resonate with you. Which ones catch your interest? Which feel compelling? Which align with your beliefs?
2. Define your healing strategy
It’s essential to recognize that a single approach may not be suitable for everyone. Each of us is distinct, and the best support you can provide yourself is to honor that individuality.
Additionally, to facilitate the most effective healing, it’s advisable to release any judgments about the modalities you might not connect with. Allopathic medicine has its place — in fact, should I ever fracture a bone, I’ll seek help at the nearest emergency room.
You can blend allopathic and alternative treatments (and I have). For this phase, you don’t need a comprehensive strategy for every possible health challenge. Have a few trusted measures for various health concerns.
For example, I often develop conjunctivitis while traveling, and a diluted Rue Fennel tincture resolves it every time. I find cranberry supplements effective for bladder infections. I maintain a well-stocked health pantry with these remedies, homeopathic options, Bach flower remedies, and various other preferred items.
If my “home remedies” aren’t effective, I have a network of professionals I rely on (see #4).
3. Ensure your beliefs align with your chosen strategy
I’m over 60 and have rarely taken medication for more than 10 days — the last instance was years ago. I’ve only had one outpatient surgery throughout my life, and I don’t currently have an allopathic doctor, nor do I foresee needing one.
However, that’s my personal belief system. Many may disagree with my choices, and I wouldn’t dissuade them from their own paths.
It’s crucial to honor your beliefs when it comes to your health.
If you believe that eating Tootsie Rolls can cure your cancer — they will. Belief wields that kind of power. And remember, beliefs can be transformed.
I recommend everyone embrace this crucial belief:
All things can be healed.
And also this one:
The earth holds all that is needed to restore health.
Once you have realigned your beliefs to match your chosen approach, I suggest you…
4. Build your health support team
After selecting your primary healing strategy, it’s time to find professionals who can support your health. Seek referrals from friends. Try several practitioners. Experiment with the home therapies that appeal to you. Be clear in your intention: “I will attract the professionals who can best assist my healing journey, with ease, elegance, and no harm to anyone.”
Building my current health team took several years. I consult one practitioner for physical and structural assistance, albeit he also incorporates energy work.
Another professional I see specializes in acute conditions and preventative strategies against hereditary diseases (like miasms). Given that both my parents succumbed to cancer at a young age, this was essential for me.
I also work regularly with a third practitioner over the phone for emotional and energetic healing.
Together, they form my “Dream (Health) Team,” and I generally maintain good health.
Nonetheless, most of us will encounter health challenges sooner or later, so it’s beneficial to know how to respond when illness or injury strikes…
