Gratitude has become a common topic, and for many, its significance seems diminished—along with its power to transform our lives.
Let me clarify—I’m not referring to some guilt-driven notion like, “Be sure to thank Grandma for the birthday present.”
Genuine gratitude entails a profound affection and recognition for someone or something in your life. It has the potential to…
Transform.
Your.
World.
Consider this…our emotions and thoughts shape our reality. Positive feelings can actively attract more reasons to feel that way.
While I often encourage focusing on the future—contemplating what your life will entail once your dreams materialize—
Gratitude centers around the past. As Lazaris* eloquently puts it, “Gratitude is the heart’s memory.”
Thus, nurturing positive sentiments about both the future and the past will cultivate more favorable realities. This is simply how the universe operates.
BUT—gratitude possesses extraordinary power
Gratitude acts like a battery. When you appreciate something in your life—whether it’s love, finances, health, or even nature—it’s already a part of your existence. It’s already realized.
This uplifting energy signifies you acknowledge the wonderful gifts you’ve received. Any doubt or skepticism, such as “Will this ever happen?” that might exist in your aspirations is diminished through gratitude.
Furthermore, gratitude bolsters your belief in being the architect of your life, that the universe is kind, and that beneficial things flow toward you.
In moments of gratitude, you resonate with pure, unfiltered joy, love, and appreciation. Gratitude might be the most potent “tool” available.
And there’s more…
Gratitude feels incredible. It also unites you with the world in ways nothing else can. We are all interconnected—and gratitude serves as that bond.
Gratitude opens up your heart and aligns you with your soul. It elevates your frequency. Gratitude allows you to become “more.”
If you could practice just one technique, make it gratitude.
A gentle reminder…
When you overlook the positive occurrences in your life (i.e., lack of gratitude), you send a message to the universe: “Don’t send me any more of this.”
Emotion attracts. Joyful emotions pull in more joy. Negative feelings draw negativity. You’ve observed both in your own life. Yet, neutral feelings bring nothing.
If good things come your way and you disregard them…you, my friend, have squandered an opportunity to amplify that experience.
5 Ways to Harness Gratitude to Work Wonders in Your Life:
Merely saying “thank you” lacks the depth of gratitude I’m referencing here. Follow these suggestions to elevate your gratitude from ordinary to extraordinary:
1. Cultivate gratitude as a routine.
Maintain a journal or gratitude document on your computer. Whether in the shower or while dressing, dedicate time each day to acknowledge your blessings.
2. Be specific with your gratitude.
The more precise you are, the more impactful your gratitude becomes—why? Because specificity enhances your feeling of gratitude.
Instead of saying, “I’m thankful for the friend who watched the kids so I could unwind,” express, “I’m incredibly grateful to my friend Mary, who despite her busy schedule with her three kids and part-time work, kindly took care of my children so I could recuperate from my cold. I feel rejuvenated, and I deeply appreciate her kindness and generosity.”
3. Expand your gratitude throughout your life.
Be thankful for everything.
Don’t limit your appreciation to your kids, partner, home, or job. Include your body, the environment, your experiences of love, your nation, your skills, the beauty around you, your favorite shows, and even your unseen friends.
The more you express gratitude for both the small and significant aspects in all areas, the more you’ll experience gratitude throughout your day, resulting in transformative effects on your life.
4. Occasionally, take time to truly savor gratitude.
I recognize life gets hectic, making this suggestion easier said than done. However, from time to time, dedicate ten to thirty minutes to simply sit and feel gratitude—deeply grateful.
Life may not be perfect, and it never will be. Yet, countless things provide reasons for gratitude. This experience transcends earthly existence, connecting you more profoundly with your higher self, soul, and other unseen friends.
5. Express gratitude in advance.
Once you grasp gratitude, envision wonderful future possibilities and feel profound appreciation for them. You don’t need specifics—just imagine yourself a year ahead, or next week, or even tomorrow, reflecting on…
“Wow, this day/week/year has been incredible. I could never have imagined everything turning out this wonderfully…I am SO grateful.”
Indeed, gratitude is powerful! It extends beyond mere practice; it’s a means of shaping your reality while enriching your spirituality. Embrace gratitude.
With love,
