The Wigan Warriors are set to face their long-time rivals, St Helens, in the Women’s Super League Grand Final at the Brick Community Stadium on Sunday, October 5, 2025, starting at 5 PM, live on Sky Sports+. This matchup marks a rematch of the Women’s Challenge Cup final held in June at Wembley, where Wigan triumphed with a decisive 42-6 victory, claiming their first title of the year.
Due to their performance during the season, Wigan secured the League Leaders’ Shield, earning the privilege of hosting the Grand Final at their stadium as they aim for the prestigious treble.
Wigan advanced to the final after a commanding 38-0 victory over the Leeds Rhinos, witnessed by a record crowd of 2,108, making it the most attended Women’s Super League match to date at the Brick.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Wigan’s head coach Denis Betts expressed his delight: “I love a zero. The tries were impressive, though we needed to tighten our defense a bit as we sometimes overplayed. We’re naturally inclined to keep the ball in play.”
He continued, “We’ve reached a point where we genuinely enjoy defending, and that’s a rare quality.”
Grace Banks, celebrating her 20th birthday on match day, remarked, “It’s a privilege to play in the final, making my birthday even more memorable. The game was primarily a battle in the forwards, and Ruby Hunter on the wing has been outstanding in the last two matches.”
She praised her teammate Eva Hunter, saying, “Honestly, Eva is exceptional at rugby. She’s a talent beyond words, and it was no surprise she scored tonight.”
On the other hand, St Helens secured their place in the final with a nail-biting 12-8 victory over the reigning champions, York Valkyrie, at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Player of the Match Katie Mottershead shared, “It was a tremendous team effort, especially digging in during the final moments. I couldn’t sit still on the bench during those last minutes.”
