Will Still Takes the Helm at Southampton: A New Era Begins After Departing Lens

Southampton Football Club has officially announced the hiring of Will Still as their new manager, effective immediately.

The 32-year-old replaces Ivan Juric, who departed the club in April after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed with seven matches still remaining in the season.

Last weekend, Still disclosed his intention to leave his role at Ligue 1 team Lens to make a return to the UK for this exciting opportunity.

“There’s tremendous potential here, and I truly believe we have a remarkable opportunity ahead of us,” Still stated upon his appointment, having signed a three-year contract.

“The vision presented to me is very compelling. Together, we can cultivate a strong identity for the team and aim for a bright future.

“I’m excited to hit the ground running this summer to build a cohesive squad that will make our fans proud and strive to return to the Premier League where we rightfully belong.”

Group technical director Johannes Spors remarked: “Will is an innovative, young manager with a wealth of experience, and we’ve been very impressed with his previous work and discussions with him.

“His clear philosophy and vision for his teams were evident in our conversations. Importantly, he also shows a strong ability to adapt to different situations—an essential trait as we transition into the Championship next season.

“His character and the values he embodies align perfectly with the culture we aspire to create at Staplewood.”

Still is anticipated to be present at St. Mary’s this Sunday for Southampton’s final Premier League clash against Arsenal.
