TCL offers impressive non-OLED televisions, often considered some of the best at their price point. A notable example is the QM7 that I tested, which remains an excellent choice in 2025. There’s a significant contrast between QLED and OLED displays, but a QLED will serve you well unless you’re planning to invest a hefty sum.

Check out the new TCL QM6K QLED, available for just $498 (down from its original $698 launch price) for the 55-inch model. This is the best price for this TV recorded to date, according to price tracking services.

The TCL QM series is an excellent option no matter which size you choose. The QM6K significantly surpasses its predecessor, featuring local dimming zones (reportedly 500 based on CNET’s review) and a mini LED panel that greatly enhances contrast. Additionally, the color performance is surprisingly accurate right out of the box for HDR, perfect for those who prefer not to fiddle with settings.

With the QM6K you gain a native 144Hz refresh rate, HDR formats including HDR ULTRA with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10, & HLG, along with Dolby Atmos sound, an anti-reflective screen, 4 HDMI Inputs (one being eARC), and the Google TV Smart OS (my preferred system) with Chromecast integration, enabling you to stream content directly from your phone. Built-in features include Apple AirPlay 2 and Alexa, as noted by ZDNet’s review.

Gamers will find much to appreciate about the QM6K, as highlighted in IGN’s review. The Game Bar feature allows you to quickly adjust settings. Additionally, a VRR accelerator effectively doubles the perceived refresh rate to 288Hz. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, resulting in a smooth gaming experience on both PCs and consoles. This TV truly packs a lot of features for a budget-friendly QLED.
