So, you have an aspiration. And it’s something you genuinely desire. You want it so intensely that it’s almost tangible. It occupies your mind persistently, as this goal consumes you.
Yet, despite your best efforts to visualize it, you find it challenging to believe it’s achievable for you.
It might be shedding 100 pounds.
It might be launching your own business.
It might be tying the knot with your secret admirer.
It might be flying in your own private jet.
It might be relocating to a different nation.
It might be expanding your family.
It might be breaking free from debt.
It might be purchasing your own residence.
But no matter how you visualize it, it feels unattainable. For example, I received the following note from a fellow creator:
Dear Boni,
I believe in the law of attraction…I’ve proclaimed, “an opportunity is on its way” and it appears. I’ve witnessed this myself. When I project positivity and put in the effort, it materializes.
However, I can’t envision us ever owning a home since we reside in California…it’s incredibly pricey. I’ve explored other states—yet our youngest has special needs and is receiving the best care here, so moving isn’t an option.
I just can’t shake the emotional barrier of our inability to buy a house due to our poor credit (it’s awful). I’m uncertain what I should aspire to since the dream seems impossible.
Signed,
Resigned
We’ve All Experienced This
Dreaming inherently pushes us towards greater and expansive aspirations. And yes, sometimes those dreams will seem beyond our grasp. For now, that may be true. But you have the ability to reclaim those dreams. Here’s how:
Start by reflecting on these questions:
Do I Truly Believe This Dream is Achievable?
If you can’t envision what you desire, then you do not believe it’s attainable for you. Acknowledge that. If you can’t envision what you wish for, it indicates doubt in your ability to achieve it.
Your beliefs can be transformed, but it requires effort. They won’t shift simply because you wish for them to, or decide that they have. You. Must. Put. In. The. Effort.
What might Resigned’s beliefs consist of?
We can’t afford to purchase a house in California.
We can’t buy a house with our credit.
We can’t find another residence that offers excellent care for our child.
I don’t create 100% of my circumstances.
Some situations are beyond my ability to change.
Generating money isn’t easy.
The universe lacks unlimited abundance.
I do not possess complete abundance.
When Resigned alters the beliefs standing in the way of her dreams, her reality will shift. How can I be so certain? I’ve walked that path. My credit was terrible—my finances were in such disarray that I declared bankruptcy. Yet, just months after filing, I purchased a home with no down payment, and within two years, acquired a commercial property with only 5% down. Everyone claimed it was impossible. Yet, I accomplished it.
How did I succeed? I shifted the beliefs that told me it was unachievable. And you can do the same. Once you’ve scrutinized your beliefs surrounding your aspirations, consider this question:
What Do I Actually Want—And What is the Core of That?
Often, we become so fixated on a specific outcome that we fail to discern our true desires. Yes, Resigned wants to own her home. But what she truly craves is financial abundance.
The essence of that financial abundance encompasses feeling free, secure, and safe. If she aimed for homeownership without acknowledging the financial freedom needed, she could end up in a financial quagmire, wishing she never pursued it!
Someone desiring to marry their secret crush is really seeking a devoted partnership. The essence of such a partnership reflects feelings of love, safety, intimacy, care, vulnerability, and trust. If they solely focus on marrying their crush without considering the foundational elements of love and commitment, they might find themselves unhappy in their marriage.
Once you grasp the essence of what you want, see if that becomes easier to pursue than the tangible outcome (be it the crush or the house). If you still struggle to see your dream, pose this question:
Should I Begin with Smaller Steps?
Shifting our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs regarding any subject takes time, and altering our self-image requires even more. At times, a dream feels overwhelming because it is too grand (for the moment). Breaking it down into smaller, realistic stages is perfectly acceptable.
For example, if someone aims to lose 100 pounds, they might start by aiming to shed 20 pounds first. Dreams should always be thrilling enough to inspire, yet achievable enough to believe in.
Am I Attempting to Control the Outcome?
Remember, you can manifest anything. But you cannot dictate how it will unfold. Many individuals stumble here.
Resigned is trying to dictate how her dream home will manifest by insisting it must be in California and that she needs good credit to acquire it. She can retain the intention for her child to receive exceptional care but must keep an open mind about possibilities that might exist outside California (beyond the child care aspect). Furthermore, there are various routes to homeownership without stellar credit, like rent-to-own options.
Release any preconceived notions about how something should appear, and let the universe orchestrate the details. Your ongoing task is to remain clear about how it feels once you achieve your dream; and begin to embody that feeling.
There will always be a pathway to manifest the essence of every aspiration. This truth holds no exceptions. If you possess a dream, you can gradually bring it to fruition—step by incremental step.
