“Yoane Wissa Calls Out Brentford: A Move to Newcastle on the Horizon?”

Wissa has expressed a strong desire to transfer to St James’ Park, opting out of first-team activities for the current season.

Initial reports indicated that Brentford valued Wissa at £40 million; however, that figure has since surged to approximately £65 million.

The transfer window in the UK is set to close at 19:00 BST on Monday, intensifying the urgency for final negotiations.

Brentford has already seen notable forward Bryan Mbeumo depart for Manchester United for the same £65 million price tag, but they did secure Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth with a record fee upward of £42.5 million.

Wissa’s potential move to Newcastle is anticipated to be part of a domino effect, with Alexander Isak possibly heading to Liverpool.

Like Wissa, Isak is reportedly unhappy at Newcastle, alleging unfulfilled commitments from the club as he seeks a transfer to the Premier League champions.

In a recent statement, Wissa—who has netted 49 goals in 149 appearances since his arrival in 2021—asserted that: “I have remained quiet through most of the summer, but with the transfer window closing, it’s crucial for me to clarify that I want to leave Brentford. The club has been obstructing my exit despite several reasonable offers.”

He continued, expressing his disappointment: “This has put me in a challenging position. I have immense respect for the club and its supporters.”

Wissa further urged Brentford’s ownership to fulfill their promise and facilitate his transition in these critical hours before the window closes.

Earlier in July, BBC Sport reported that Wissa left the club’s summer training in Portugal prematurely after making his move to Newcastle known.

Since then, he has been at an impasse with the club regarding his intentions to join Eddie Howe’s team.

Though he returned to first-team training briefly, Wissa has returned to training separately from Keith Andrews’ squad.

Last season, he scored 19 goals in the Premier League and has since removed all Brentford affiliations from his social media profiles.

He claims another Premier League club submitted a formal offer, and he believed there was a mutual understanding for his departure following discussions with Brentford.

Wissa emphasized, “I want to clarify that I have maintained professionalism throughout this process and don’t wish to leave Brentford on bad terms. I have been open with the club about my intentions and have acted in accordance with my values as a player and an individual.”

He concluded, stating, “I must prioritize what is best for my career and my family, and I implore Brentford to honor their commitment to facilitate my transfer at a fair price.”
