The anticipation is building for the 2025 Women’s College World Series taking place in Oklahoma City!
This past Sunday, UCLA faced off against Tennessee in a nail-biting game that extended into extra innings. In the ninth inning, Laura Mealer secured a thrilling walk-off single, allowing the Lady Volunteers to clinch a 5-4 victory over the Bruins. This win marks Tennessee’s second semifinal appearance in just three years, as they prepare to challenge Texas on Monday at noon ET.
Texas triumphed over their long-standing rival Oklahoma on Saturday, finally breaking a five-game losing streak with a decisive 4-2 victory, despite being 0-5 against the Sooners in WCWS since 2022. In another exciting turn, Texas Tech, making its debut in the WCWS, punched its ticket to the semifinals after defeating UCLA on Saturday.
Completing the semifinal lineup is the formidable Oklahoma team, which overcame Oregon with a 4-1 win on Sunday. They are set to clash with Texas Tech at 7 p.m. ET on Monday.
The tournament together featured an unprecedented strength from the SEC with nine regional hosts and 14 teams represented, the most in history for a single conference. The ACC also made a mark, sending a record nine teams, including three host sites, into the competition.
In Oklahoma City, there are five SEC teams (Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Ole Miss), along with two from the Big Ten (UCLA and Oregon) and one from the Big 12 (Texas Tech).
